As I am now unemployed I thought I'd write the first post. Some time soon we'll write a post about how this mad plan came about but that'll be a long one so this is a shorty to get us started.
Finishing work was a massive relief as i freed up a huge amount of brain space. Leaving my clients was sad; when you've walked with someone through a massive life change it is hard to leave them before they get to the other side. I have to say though they were all very gracious in wishing me well; it might sound like a cliche but is has been a huge privilege to work with such brave, strong women.
The next 7 day (Oh my god 7 days!) will be fill of sorting, chucking out, donating, packing and generally divesting ourselves of our possessions. I am intellectually someone who knows we don't need to keep stuff but emotionally I am a hoarder so I am having to work very hard to keep this a head thing rather than a heart thing. The one thing that helps is knowing the huge cost of sending excess stuff back to NZ.
Along with the stuff there are a few other details that still need finalising; the first aid kit isn't complete; we have another Doctors appointment to get the final vaccinations and I still mulling over whether we need another money access option (i.e. a travel debit card)/ I am sure there are many, many other things to do however Eli had tidied my "book of lists" somewhere and I can't find it.
Not a very exciting first post I'm afraid, but hopefully it can only get better from here. Can't wait to be back in NZ, see you all soon.
xxx
